A Guide for Domain Operators and Developers
Subspace's whitepaper introduces a solution to The Farmer’s Dilemma by separating consensus and computation in its blockchain system. Farmers propose transaction order, while operator nodes (previously staked executor nodes) handle state management and compute transitions. This modular approach enables farmers to partake in consensus without heavy computational tasks and introduces operator nodes for more demanding tasks. Central to this system is the concept of domains, akin to Ethereum's rollups but integrated into the core protocol, offering horizontal scalability. These domains provide distinct execution environments, enabling developers to create their networks while utilizing the main chain's security, data availability, and settlement processes. This structure aims to offer a flexible, secure, and efficient platform for decentralized applications.
